Tango 300 5-Month Intensive

PREREQUISITE: TANGO 200

MONDAYs 8-10

Tango 300 is a MEMBERSHIP ONLY (no drop-in) all-level tango series with a limited class size, designed primarily for those truly serious about learning to dance tango. The class is structured to build up a strong foundation of the elements of tango in 5 separate series lasting one month each, with students making a month-to-month commitment. Tango 300 gives a thorough examination of the axis and how it's used to create dynamics and direction in the dance. The course also introduces shared axis movements and how the free leg responds to changes of the axis.

EACH MONTHLY SERIES INCLUDES:

  • 8 hours of group instruction 
    • Previously completed series (Tango 100 & 200) are complimentary
  • 14 hours of open practice*
  • A 30 min. video assessment* of the monthly material
  • Homework and practice requirement: each student must commit to a minimum of 1h of group practice per week outside of class

Tango 300 Curriculum

 TANGO 302: SACADAS

  • Week 1:  The Back Sacada in the Turn
  • Week 2:  Standard Sacadas for the Follower
  • Week 3:  Progressive Forward and Open Sacadas
  • Week 4:  Progressive Back and Open Sacadas 

 TANGO 303: THE CALESITA

  • Week 1:  The Calesita
  • Week 2:  The Calesita Combinations
  • Week 3:  Volcada Milonguero
  • Week 4:  Styling The Free Leg

 TANGO 304: THE BOLEO

  • Week 1:  The Back Boleo
  • Week 2:  Back Boleo Combinations
  • Week 3:  The Forward Boleo
  • Week 4:  Forward Boleo Combinations

TANGO 305: THE GANCHO

  • Week 1: Body Mechanics & Positioning
  • Week 2: The Basic Gancho
  • Week 3: Gancho in the Turn
  • Week 4: The Double Gancho
